Among my many hobbies is conlanging, or the study and creation of constructed languages, as opposed to naturally developed human languages, and that's what I've got documented here. A bit of explanation for the odd person who may happen to come across this page without already being versed in the topic- "artificial languages" does not mean "computer languages". What exactly it does mean... well, you'll figure it out. There is, however, a surprisingly large amount of overlap with my love of computer science (particularly revolving around computational linguistics and machine language comprehension); that background provided some of the inspiration for my latest project, Palno.
I'm interested in natural languages as well, and have made a cursory study of a large number of them, partly for inspiration in conlanging & partly for it's own sake, but there's really no point going on for too long about that here as there are plenty of much better resources you can go to for information on natural languages (like, say, native speakers). My ability to speak all of the languages that I've studied, however, is *extremely* limited. I do OK in Russian (which I will shortly have to become *much* more proficient in; see below), so that probably counts as my second language. After that, I'm planning on trying to learn Gaelic and Swedish.
Under normal circumstances, I'd put my e-mail address here, as I'm interested in feedback from people who are interested in my work. However, I'm going to be unavailable for the next two years, starting September 24th, 2008, while I serve a mission for the LDS Church in Ukraine, and there's no point filling my inbox in the meantime. I'm doing my best to get as much stuff documented and up on this website as I can before I leave.
